I will post more about this later on my blog. But, the Huskers got off to a very good start for the 2009 season yesterday. I felt the defense played very vanilla, with no blitzing. But, you cant argue with the scoreboard! Out of 30 predictions on our forum no Husker fan predicted that low of a score by FAU.

I have no complaints about the offense either. As I expected Helu had a big day on the ground.

Does anyone else get the feelig that the Huskers and the Blackshirts in paticular were holding back? I guess we will know in 2 weeks.

Thats my take, whats yours?

I believe your right they were holding back a lot. But it was fun to watch a nebraska team out there having fun for once. They were swarming the football on every play. In my opinion this team has some serious potential. Some very very good young talent. I'm thinking they have a very good chance at 10 wins or more this year. One thing i noticed was the speed that was out there. That was like SEC speed. They keep this up as far as talent and speed wise this team will be a serious contender in the big 12 this year and with these fast and talented freshman in a few years watch out they could be in some national title talks.

i think the younger group will learn alot after that. but if carl pelini does not start blitzing huskers are in trouble against a stronger team. i thought after the 1st 1/4 the offense played much better than the defense. helu is a running machine & i think it helped him be a stronger back losing Q. zac lee needs to learn to take off running more when he can get 5 yards +. i know 1 time in the 1st 1/2 he could of got a 1st down & decided to throw a incomplete pass. 1 other time it was 1st down & he could of easily made 5 or 6 yards. and maybe one coach told him that at 1/2 because he did it once in the 2nd 1/2. go huskers next game 56-9. james

I was thinking the same thing. Carl Pelini was holding the D back. I think the D is much stronger than they showed, but why show your true ability if not needed? I bet the aggressive blitzing Blackshirts will be there for the Va Tech game.
