The Husker football team stumbled early in their game with Va Tech yesterday. The Huskers dug themselves in a hole and never had the momentum a game they almost won.

I heard the grumblings of "this looks like last year" and also the passing "we would have lost 45-10 last year"

Whats your take on the game, and where the Husker Football team is now, and where it is headed?

I think last years team would have given up after being down by 18 points and the snowball effect would have been a 30 point loss.

Bo kept the team in this game even after he lost his cool.

This team has some growing to do and the Coach does too. But, what I saw last night was promising compared to what I have seen the last few years. This team NEVER gave up, and they nearly pulled of a miracle come from behind win.

I hope the Huskers use that same effort every week. If they do they will surprise somebody down the road and win a game they are not suppose to win.

Yes I was disappointed to see the defense again make a previously inept passing attack look good. Bravo to Bo for holding the blackshirts. BUT they are progressing rapidly. I agreee we wil beat someone we shoudn't, based on talent, because of the effort on the field. But for a very questionable call we may have won this one. We are on our way back. If you don't think we are you don't have very good recollection of how bad we looked last year. Not just the losing, the lack of effort.

I agree. Is it me, or did the defense seem different in the second half? But, they NEVER quit and even the Hokie Coach was impressed with that. I think he said something like we thought we had them 2 or 3 times, but they just kept coming back! Thats not bad for a team that seemed to quit easily last year.

Bring on KU!

The defense looked good despite Bo coming uncorked. Maybe the pressure of being a first year head coach but it shouldn't have happened. The teams did well to maintain their focus. To many mental mistakes (personal fouls).
The lack of a dominant pass rush made VT young QB look great. As the Huskers progress into the regular schedule, the need for a agressive pass rush is eminent.
I think it will raise the level of play for all the teams.

I was very encouraged with what I saw Saturday because I know the better team lost. Sometimes the "W" isn't the most important factor when looking for progress (even callahan had a couple wins while he was here...i think). A team that was so beaten up for three quarters united and fought like hell and if it wasn't for a questionable game deciding call at the end would have probably been victorious.

I think the way they fought back will really help us next week...If they get down thy know they can come back against a defense that is not as good as VT's.

Biggest Areas of Concern
1) The "Assasin" #4
2) Why #10 only gets 4 carries a game
3) PUNT COVERAGE!!!!

Same old stuff. Lack of talent and speed will doom the Huskers to another dismal season. But, they did play with more heart. The question will be if they continue to play with that heart as this difficult stretch of games takes it toll.

I see the Huskers 3 and 3 2 weeks from now.
